Bulldogs Take the Field— & Game

Posted Oct 28, 07 7:00 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Georgia Bulldogs gained a hard-fought victory over the Florida Gators last night, and their mild-mannered coach turned over a colorful new leaf, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Mark Richt ordered his team—all 70 players—onto the field after the Bulldogs' first touchdown, drawing two penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct but gaining the momentum they would need to win.

"We game-planned energy as much as we did X's and O's," explained Richt. The strategy worked; Georgia's defense sacked Florida's Tim Tebow six times and  running back Knowshon Moreno transformed 33 carries into 188 yards. The Gators, who had beaten Georgia 15 of the last 17 times they met, couldn't contain Richt's exuberant Bulldogs.
