Sox 1 Away From Series Sweep

Posted Oct 28, 07 6:10 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – The Red Sox are one win away from another World Series title, thanks to the heart of their lineup—the 9, 1 and 2 spots—of Daisuke Matsuzaka, Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia. Matsuzaka pitched 5 1/3 solid innings, and together the three scored and drove in nine runs in Boston's 10-5 victory, reports the Boston Herald.

Josh Fogg took the loss, giving up six runs on 10 hits in his third and final inning. Ellsbury had two doubles in the third, and followed with another in the eighth to neutralize a comeback threat by the Rockies. A Sox win tonight would sweep the Series, but as left fielder Manny Ramierez cautions: “We don’t want to eat the cake before your birthday.”
