Gators Win Twice with Teamwork

Florida Earns Second Championship With Guts and Discipline

Posted Apr 3, 2007 1:44 PM CDT

(Newser) – By repeating as national champions, the University of Florida men's basketball team has shown what commitment and teamwork can do, says Dick Jerardi. "It was equal parts breathtaking and mesmerizing," he writes. "If you love to watch selfless basketball in which there is one goal, you had to love watching this Florida team."

The Gators featured a roster stacked with students who could've jumped to the NBA last year, but who returned to use their skills and discipline to block talented opponents and win a second NCAA crown. "They did it the first year with no expectations," the coach said, "then they did it again with all the expectations."
