Cowboys Pony Up for Romo

Posted Oct 29, 07 9:55 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Through the first half of the season, Dallas is the class of the NFC, and the likable gunslinger who got them there has just been given a juicy contract extension, FOXSports.com reports. Tony Romo has agreed to a six-year, $67.5 million deal with over $30 million guaranteed—not bad for an undrafted free agent.

Having seen Romo improve upon his Pro Bowl season of last year, the Cowboys wanted to sign the deal before his price rose any further. The boyish bachelor has capitalized on his stardom in other ways, as well; he has been romantically linked with Carrie Underwood and, more recently, the troubled but toothsome Britney Spears.
