(Newser) – A double power outage at the Meadowlands sports stadium in New Jersey temporarily halted an NFL game yesterday between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. The snafu plunged the packed stadium into total darkness, and some players hit the ground, apparently fearing an attack, CNN reports. Investigators are probing what caused the twin crash in the third quarter. The game was stopped for some 12 minutes, and the Cowboys went on to beat New York 33-20.

I want to know what players hit the deck fearing an attack. Is that what you do when the lights go out, dive to the ground? You're in a huge open stadium and your going to lie in the middle of the field? What is this 1955.

I watched a game of American Football once where nothing happened for 12 minutes, I'm surprised people noticed.
