Jobless Benefits Extension Fails in House

They could expire at the end of November

(User Submitted) – A vote to extend federally funded unemployment benefits for three months failed to get enough support in the House today, meaning that current benefits could expire on November 30. The bill required a two-thirds vote to reauthorize funding and faced an uncertain future in the Senate had it passed, reports the Huffington Post. Congress currently grants up to 73 weeks of unemployment benefits after 26 weeks of state benefits run out.

Democrat Alan Grayson: "It appalls me that the Republicans keep pitching and pitching and pitching the tax cuts for the rich and won't join in a bill to help people keep their homes and not have to live in their cars." Another try to extend the benefits is expected after the Thanksgiving break. Click here for more.

This is another example of how the Rupublicans are so concerned about Americans "Right To Work" and survive that they want to pass three-more "Free Trade" Agreements: http://patriotsforamerica.ning.com/profiles/blogs/unemployment-blues?xg_source=activity

Here is a great, short Malcolm Gladwell bit about income inequality in this country: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/festival/2010/10/video-malcolm-gladwell.html And you may recall this story: http://www.newser.com/story/101370/most-americans-think-rich-are-too-rich.html And relative deprivation is bad for everyone's health: http://weblamp.princeton.edu/~chw/papers/eibner_evans.pdf So REPUBLICANS, WHAT IS THE F*CKING PROBLEM?

I am a conservative, but up to March of this year I was one of those that was unemployed for 18 months, and without unemployment benefits and the help from my church and family I and my family would have been in the streets at some point during that time. As a professional with a degree and 20 plus years of experience in my field, I could not even get hired by McDonald's (they turned me down because I "would probably leave as soon as something better came along, and it would be a waste of their time and money to hire and train me"). I ended up taking a job 1200 miles away from friends and family (including my grandsons), and am now once again able to support my family (including giving aid to my out of work son). We are either going to have to help these folks with unemployment, or fix the job market situation (there are not enough jobs to support all of the currently unemployed), or be faced with more homeless than many third-world nations currently have.
