(User Submitted) – NBC's Brian Williams puts the possible king of England under the hot light when he asks if Camilla could be the next queen. "That's, well ... We'll see won't we? That could be," replies Charles, his first response in a five-year quietus concerning the future role of his second wife. Previously, Charles's position has been that Camilla would become "Princess Consort" when he wears the crown, reports the Daily Mail.

The interview, conducted in August, airs tonight. It comes on the heels of Prince William's engagement, with polls suggesting that most Brits would like Charles to relinquish his future throne to his eldest son. The Mail points out that if Elizabeth lives to her mother's age of 101, Charles would be nearly 80 and Wills 45.

After reading the comments I feel it necessary to add to my already posted post. I am from Attenborough only changed to Ettenborough in Nottinghamshire just off the University of Nottingham. I have watched the royal family for years and since I am the same age as Charles follow him via our generation link. Certainly while those in the public view are broadcast and magnified to all of us who consume the data it is only fair that we apply those standards common to all of us. Absolutely Diana was a beautiful and wonderful example of loving her children along with humanitarian gifts and contributions to the world. Sadly she is gone. She has two exceptional sons for us all to share in their lives. And without doubt or reservation we all are their supporters and wish them great success. However is it not time now for Charles to take the well earned and self humbled role of King. By all measures he is ready for the responsibility. Lets get on with it. I would not like to see the Queen overstay her welcome and fall out of public favor for her unwillingness to provide Charles his rightful role. Wouldn't it be far better for the Queen to provide Charles her years of experience and counsel once Charles takes the throne. Well then, lets get on with it.

Charles should be King NOW, and his mother needs to get off the dime. What possibly could keep her in position except her own insecurity of [what will I do if Im not the Queen]. Camila should be Queen without succession if Charles passes away prematurely. Wills of course should absolute follow Charles as King and Kate as Queen at a time it is appropriate. Period

Like it or not, one day he will be King. And doesn`t every man want he`s Wife to be a Queen? I think she would be as good a job of it as anyone else.
