Good Samaritan assists 5 after vessel overturns

(User Submitted) – A Good Samaritan rescued 5 people from an overturned vessel north of Bodega Bay. At approximately 9:10 am this morning, the USCG received notice from a Good Samaritan that a 21-foot Cabo vessel with 5 aboard had overturned less than a half mile west of Arched Rock.

The USCG launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from USCG Air Station San Francisco and a 47' motor lifeboat from USCG Station Bodega Bay. The Good Samaritan, in a 22' Boston Whaler, was able to recover the 5 individuals and transfer them to the USCG motor lifeboat, which met them en route to Bodega Bay by 9:47 a.m.

One of the men, age 60, was reported unresponsive and was administered CPR en route to Station Bodega Bay, where the Bodega Bay FD declared the man deceased.. The four others were treated for hypothermia. Read the full article.
