(AP) – It will be Auburn vs. Oregon for the college football championship after both won today to cinch their spots. For Auburn, Heisman contender Cam Newton passed for a career-best 335 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for two TDs to boot, as the Tigers routed South Carolina 56-17 for the Southeastern Conference title.

Earlier, Oregon negotiated the last speed bump on its way to Glendale, Ariz., grinding out a 37-20 victory against Oregon State. LaMichael James, another Heisman contender, ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns while Kenion Barner had 133 yards and scored twice. The BCS title game is Jan. 10.

I won't even remember these two teams in January. Why do they wait so long from the end of the college season to play the championship game?
