How to Prevent Sex on Mars: His and Hers Spaceships?

Study: Astronauts of the opposite sex are bound to have some

(Newser) – Boy, send a male and female astronaut to Mars, and next thing you know they'll be hiding behind the land rover fornicating like rabbits. It's just what humans do, says a new study in the Journal of Cosmology. It examines the potentially dangerous medical and social repercussions of sex between astronauts, pregnancy, and "the first baby to be born on the Red Planet." If NASA wants to avoid all this, especially on the long trip to get there, "recommendations include the possibility that male and female astronauts on a mission to Mars should fly in separate space craft."

Tidbits from the study:

  • "Stress levels would rise, as would irritability, resulting in considerable hostility and anger directed toward the mother and father unless, perhaps, she had sex with multiple astronauts and the identity of the father was unknown."
  • "Performance of the sex act during a journey to Mars may require potentially complex sexual gymnastics."

Romance awaits.

Birth control seems a lot more cost effective then two spaceships? Why is the obvious always so hard to obtain?

Can you imagine two astronauts “hiding behind the land rover fornicating like rabbits” dropping the bottom half of their spacesuits trying to have sex on Mars? I don’t think they’d be able to survive the decompression. Just don’t make sense.

I was going to hit the "hilarious" button, but the percentage was on 69%.
