Totino's and Jeno's Pizzas Recalled Over E. coli

(Newser) – General Mills today recalled 5 million frozen pizzas sold under the brand names Totino's and Jeno's because they have pepperoni that might be contaminated with E. coli. Health officials discovered the problem while investigating 21 E. coli illnesses in 10 states. They found that at least nine of those people ate the pizzas, and four developed a type of kidney failure, the AP reports.

The pizzas were produced at a plant in Ohio, but the pepperoni came from a separate supplier the company did not name. Tennessee had the largest number of illnesses with eight. The voluntary recall follows a massive recall of ground beef more than a month ago that led to the closure of Topps Meat Co.
