One way to register your disgust with government: Jump off a balcony and into the middle of parliament. That's what Adrian Sobaru did in Romania today. The father of two, a public television employee, suffered face wounds after he flung himself from the balcony, apparently in protest over government austerity measures, which include wage cuts and tax hikes. He was wearing a shirt with the words: "You killed our children's future, you sold us."

As emergency medical workers took him out on a stretcher, Sobaru—who will undergo surgery and psychological counseling, according to a hospital official—shouted "Freedom!" The AP reports that the day's planned no-confidence vote, over a public wage law, was canceled. (More Romania stories.)
