Inside Hefner's Not-Exactly-Romantic Proposal

It involved ... a 'Little Mermaid' music box

(Newser) – The story of Hugh Hefner’s Christmas Eve proposal to 60-years-younger galpal Crystal Harris just keeps getting more and more romantic. Turns out he didn’t actually ask her to marry him, he just handed her a Little Mermaid music box (yep, really) that was holding the ring, and said, “I hope it fits.” It actually ended up being too big, Harris tells E!, but fortunately she can wear the symbol of their not-at-all-creepy love now that it’s been resized.

Making the story ever more swoony: Harris wasn’t even surprised, having designed the ring herself after picking out the diamond … with Hef’s secretary. Click to see a picture of Harris’s rock.

Hug Hefner propagated a lie to men all over the world. Lots of free sex, women with big boobs and spread their legs at your command will bring you the happiness you have always dreamed of. NOT! Oh, I'm sure men like those two things, but, it's not reality. We can't live our lives based on fantasy. We fall apart. Marriages fall apart. Who knows how many relationships Hefner's message has destroyed. I was married to one. He used to compare me to the monthly centerfold. He wanted to know why I couldn't look like her. No bruises, or scars or any flaws for that matter. It hurt me so deeply, that after a while I could not take it anymore. My self esteem was nearly broken. Every month, it was the same thing. I finally left him and divorced him. Only then, did he realize what had happened. Too late.
