Pats Take Super Bowl XLIS

Posted Nov 4, 07 8:11 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – The Roman number for "1/2" is "S" and today's game between the Patriots and Colts, falling midway between Super Bowls XLI and XLII, had all the makings of a regular season title game. There were huge momentum swings, incredible individual plays, and a classic comeback by the road team over the defending Super Bowl champs. It all added up to a 24-20 win for the still-undefeated Patriots.

The game wasn't decided until Pats defensive end Jarvis Green knocked the ball loose from Peyton Manning on Indy's final drive, and it was recovered by New England's Roosevelt Colvin—who grew up in Indianapolis. Brady matched his season-long INT total with 2, but also had 3 TD tosses. "They made the big plays down the stretch and we couldn't counter them," the AP quoted Indianapolis coach Tony Dungy saying postgame.
