Schwarzenegger: Being Governor Cost Me $200M Arnold tallies up the movie moolah he missed out on By Kate Seamons, Newser Staff Posted Jan 16, 2011 2:33 PM CST 19 comments Comments Gov. (AP Photo/Chris Pizzello) (Newser) – Such sacrifice: Arnold Schwarzenegger's turn as governor cost him "probably more than $200 million," he tells an Austrian paper. He arrived at that tally by adding up his expenses and income he would have gained had his day job remained acting in Hollywood films. Still, "I'm not sorry. It was more than worth it." In fact, the biggest downside wasn't the lost cash, reports Reuters: It was "the damage my time as governor did to the family. There is a lot there that needs to be repaired." Schwarzenegger says his wife and kids spent many a Sunday night crying, upset at the thought of him leaving their LA home for Sacramento the next day. "We hate your job," they would tell him. But "in my second term of office, I did better. I tried to fly home every evening."
