Goodell Upholds Pacman Ban

Posted Nov 6, 07 10:01 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – NFL commissioner Roger Goodell firmly squashed the campaign of Adam "Pacman" Jones's camp to reduce his full-season suspension, reiterating to the Titans defensive standout that he cannot rejoin his team until fall 2008. Tennessee, whose overall defense has improved significantly this year, said they had been prepared for that eventuality.

Jones's legal troubles included a well-publicized Las Vegas strip club melee in which one man was shot and paralyzed. During his suspension, he joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, then learned from the Titans that his contract forbade his getting in the ring. Tennessee, which boasts a deep secondary, is second in the league in total yards allowed and first in run defense.
