GMs Vote for Instant Replay in Baseball 25-5

Posted Nov 6, 07 10:44 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Baseball’s general managers voted 25-5 in favor of using instant replay to aid umpires with boundary calls. The GMs recommended that replay be used to determine whether a possible homer was fair or foul, whether a ball went over the fence or bounced back and whether a fan has interfered with a potential dinger or not, reports the AP.

The vote was merely the first step of many towards potentially using instant replay in baseball. Ultimately the proposal would need the approval of MLB commissioner Bud Selig and the owners. However, the commissioner is not enthusiastic about the idea. “I don't like instant replay because I don't like all the delays,” Selig said last month.
