Watch your back, Bigfoot. Animal Planet's coming. The cable channel is sending a film crew into a national forest near Charlotte, NC, today to try to catch a glimpse, reports the Charlotte Observer. The crew is following along with local retiree Michael Greene, who swears he saw the big guy there in 2009. (He's got "thermal imaging video" at his site, but it'll cost you $2.)

Greene is already lowering expectations, telling the Salisbury Post there's little chance Bigfoot will pop up with so many people around. But it's OK, because “I’m all for promoting Bigfoot awareness." Animal Planet plans a six-episode series including hunts elsewhere around the country—like Shark Week for Sasquatch—and is keeping a very straight face. Its crews "are using modern technology to finally find the legendary and elusive creature," says a spokeswoman. (More bigfoot stories.)
