Apple's Fall Surprise: iPad 3?

Third version of tablet may have retina display

(Newser) – Rumor in the tech world has it that Steve Jobs will be bringing out as many tablets as Moses this year. Apple hasn't even admitted that the iPad 2 exists—although plenty of details have been leaked—but the iPad 3 could well be on its way already this fall, according to TechCrunch. Sources say that the iPad 2 will be available within weeks, to be followed by Apple's "fall surprise"—a third version of the tablet, likely incorporating the iPhone 4's retina-like display.

Apple is known for sticking fairly rigidly to product development cycles, notes the Huffington Post, so why bring out two iPad models within 6 months? It could be an attempt to outflank HP's upcoming TouchPad tablet, speculates John Gruber at Daring Fireball. "If my theory is right, they're not only going to be months behind the iPad 2, but if they slip until late summer, they might bump up against the release of the iPad 3," he writes.

Apple has a history of not resting on their laurels. That’s perhaps the key reason why they’ve been so successful in recent years. And that’s exactly why they strike with the iPad 3 in the fall. - MG Siegler, TechCrunch

I have got to say I love it when Snoozer er Newser post these type of articles to bring out the Macintosh/Apple bashing crowd. I have tried my hand with Android phones. I have owned a Motorola Droid 1, and the Samsung intercept which both performed better than the P.O.S Evo. The Evo is what pushed me to now want the iPhone as that phone does do what I ask it to with out all the freaking force closes.I am not saying all Android phones are bad as I like the last two before the Evo but the Evo stinks. Back to the topic at hand. Apple in my case has made a wonderful product that I love when it comes to there computers. I have no desire to run Linux or Windows again ever as I feel I have the best of both worlds, thus why I use it but no one here has yet after many times asking answered me on why do you people hate Apple so bad.

Apple's Fall Surprise: iPad 3? I will truly only be surprised if they don't have a fall release. Of course, it may be delayed, like so many before.

99.9999999% of apps are pointless wastes of time. I'd rather spend my time being with real people, working, writing, reading and not wasting every spare moment glued to an IPAD in doing what amounts to no more than mental masturbation.
