The father of two missing Swiss twins told his wife in a suicide letter that he killed them, reports Global Post. Matthias Schepp wrote that the twins were "resting in peace" and "did not suffer" and that he would soon follow them. He later threw himself in front of a train in Italy. Allesia and Livia, 6, have been the subject of a worldwide search after going missing last month, spurred on by an impassioned plea from their mother, Irina Lucidi.

Witnesses last saw the twins with their father on a ferry between Marseiile and Propriano. In the days before that, he had been searching online for information about poisons and weapons. He made the return ferry trip alone, leading police to fear that he drugged the girls and threw them overboard.
