The nephew of the Dalai Lama was killed after being struck by a car as he walked along a Florida highway during a 300-mile march to raise awareness for Tibetan independence. Jigme K. Norbu, 45, was hit by an SUV last night as he set off on a "Walk for Tibet" from St. Augustine to West Palm Beach. Norbu, the son of the Dalai Lama's late brother, had done similar walks on other occasions. His Florida walk marked the 50th anniversary of the failed Tibetan rebellion against Chinese rule that ended with his uncle's exile. The driver was not charged in the accident on the unlit road, reports AP.
