(Newser) – CBS correspondent Lara Logan, who was beaten and sexually assaulted by a mob in Cairo last Friday, is recovering and could leave the hospital to be reunited with her two young children as soon as today, sources tell the Daily Beast. Logan, who had been arrested and interrogated by the Egyptian military a week earlier, had left the country but felt personally obligated to return to Tahrir Square to cover the uprising, Politico notes. Sources say she's in surprisingly good spirits despite the ordeal.

"It's very hard for me to be away from this story," Logan, CBS' News' chief foreign affairs correspondent, said before returning to Egypt to interview Wael Ghonim. (A colleague ended up conducting the interview in her place.) "Fundamentally it is in my blood to be there and to be on the streets and to be listening to people and to do the best reporting that I can." The brutal attack on Logan was one of at least 140 on journalists in Egypt during the unrest, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Click for more on her ordeal.

She must have asked the crowd what the crowd thought, about what President Obama thought, about the crowd.

If we're going to send female reporters to Egypt, they should all look like this in the future. http://s3.mediamatters.org/static/video/2005/11/01/onthestory-200511010014.jpg

Oh boy she must of really been beat'n and sexually assaulted severely... She only went back to her Hotel room for the night then went to the airport and flew 20 hours back to the U.S. before going to the Hospital.. I'm sure she will be receiving the Biggest Payday of her life due to this. Are we supposed to feel sorry for a woman that goes into an angry Mob of 10,000 men? Gratz to her her new found success!
