CBS correspondent Lara Logan, who was beaten and sexually assaulted by a mob in Cairo last Friday, is recovering and could leave the hospital to be reunited with her two young children as soon as today, sources tell the Daily Beast. Logan, who had been arrested and interrogated by the Egyptian military a week earlier, had left the country but felt personally obligated to return to Tahrir Square to cover the uprising, Politico notes. Sources say she's in surprisingly good spirits despite the ordeal.

"It's very hard for me to be away from this story," Logan, CBS' News' chief foreign affairs correspondent, said before returning to Egypt to interview Wael Ghonim. (A colleague ended up conducting the interview in her place.) "Fundamentally it is in my blood to be there and to be on the streets and to be listening to people and to do the best reporting that I can." The brutal attack on Logan was one of at least 140 on journalists in Egypt during the unrest, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. Click for more on her ordeal.
