Will the Rocket Finally Retire?

Posted Nov 8, 07 3:02 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Roger Clemens looks to be retiring at long last, as he prepares to honor his post-retirement contract with the Houston Astros by working to scout and develop young pitchers. But wait—if a team "has a need for Roger" and the Rocket feels up to it, his agent "would try to work out a contract," reports the Houston Chronicle.

Whether or not he ends up on the mound again, Clemens will start the season in his 10-year personal-services contract, following in the footsteps of Nolan Ryan and Jeff Bagwell. The seven-time Cy Young winner "might be better at teaching than he is at pitching—which is a remarkable statement," said Yankees GM Brian Cashman.
