The British press has been having some fun with this one: A kayaker on England's Lake Windemere snapped a photo with his phone of what he thinks is "Bownessie," a creature along the lines of the more famous Loch Ness monster alleged to be lurking in the 11-mile-long lake. To see the photo of the four-humped whatever, hoax or no, see the Daily Mail.

"Its skin was like a seal's but its shape was abnormal," says the kayaker. "It's not like any animal I've ever seen before. We saw it for about 20 seconds. It was petrifying." This is at least the eighth reported sighting in five years, notes the Westmorland Gazette, but the first purported photo. Click for more. (More Bownessie stories.)
