Brit's Mess My Fault, Says Mom

Posted Nov 8, 07 10:31 AM CST in Gossip Arts & Living

(Newser) – Think Britney is a brat? Blame her mom. That's what Lynne Spears is doing. The 52-year-old says her daughter has been falling apart for years and it's her fault because she wasn't able to go on the road with Britney when her career took off. "I wish I'd been there more, but I had the other kids to look after," said the mom of three.

"This all just exploded in my face, and big dreams became big headaches," said Spears, who is writing a book about parenting Britney for a Christian publisher. The mother and daughter had a falling out when Lynne tried to force Britney into rehab. They've since reconciled, and the singer is cooperating with drug testing in an effort to get custody of her sons from ex-husband Kevin Federline.
