California police have removed Charlie Sheen's twin sons from his Los Angeles mansion, the increasingly erratic actor has revealed. "This is not the America I grew up in," he told NBC News last night. The boys, Bob and Max, who turn 2 this month, were returned to their mother, Brooke Mueller, who is in the midst of a divorce from Sheen. The actor is seeking full custody of his sons. In the latest of a string of increasingly odd ramblings, the substance-abusing, hard-partying celeb tweeted last night: "My sons are fine. My path is now clear. Defeat is not an option!"

It wasn't immediately clear what specifically triggered the emergency removal, but sources told Radar that Mueller convinced a judge to order the police action. The boys have been at Sheen's home—which he has also been sharing with a porn star and a second lover—since last week. The actor's bender days and recent extreme delusions of grandeur have led experts to speculate that he is not only an addict, but probably also suffers from bipolar disorder. "Addiction is unlikely to be his only problem," noted neuroscience journalist Maia Szalavitz. For more on the bizarre world according to Sheen, click here. (More Charlie Sheen stories.)
