(Newser) – No. 6 West Virginia defeated Louisville 38-31 Thursday night, keeping West Virginia at Connecticut's heals for a BCS berth while eliminating Louisville from the conference championship chase, the AP reports. West Virginia QB Pat White was sensational, throwing for 181 yards and two touchdowns and sprinting for 147 yards and a late game-clinching score.

West Virginia lost three fumbles in the second half and committed 11 penalties to help keep Louisville in the game, but it wasn't enough. West Virginia is now 51-1 since 2000 when scoring 30 or more points.
