Meet America's Hottest Politician: Chris Christie

NJ governor tops poll; isn't running for president

(Newser) – Chris Christie isn't just hot stuff in his own mind: The New Jersey governor is the hottest politician in America right now, besting even the current occupant of the Oval Office by 57 points to 56.5 in Quinnipiac's latest poll. But while that's great for Christie, that's not so great for Republicans, notes Talking Points Memo, particularly those with their eye on the White House.

Compare Christie's performance with presumed candidates Mike Huckabee (51.8), Mitt Romney (50.4), Tim Pawlenty (48.2), Jon Huntsman (47.9), and Sarah Palin (38.2), and a GOP enthusiasm gap appears. Non-politicians actually topped the poll: First lady Michelle Obama scored 60.1, while a former politician by the name of Bill Clinton snagged 59.2.
