(Newser) – Every so often, a child star decides to take a break from acting and head to college—then reality sets in, and Emma Watson is the latest casualty. Though she loves Brown and also loves “studying pretty much more than anything,” she’s “decided to take a bit of time off,” she writes on her website. She’ll finish her work on Harry Potter and “focus on my other professional and acting projects,” but, she assures us, she “will still be working towards my degree … it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought.” At least she’ll always have the memories: Click to relive the awful first days, the Harvard students stalking her, the annoying dad who posted her photo on Twitter

I can't help but wonder how successful Emma and her two male co-stars will be on thier own once the Harry Potter hype dies down. I do wish them luck.

as long as she keeps working at it..even if at a slower pace..she will be good...education is the way to go for stability, and a good backup if the acting goes awry

It sounds like she's doing the four-year degree in seven years. This is absolutely typical for colleges like this. They're so academically and socially intense. You have to break away from them from time and to time. And when you're there, it's extremely nice to pause and take whatever interests you, even if it's not going to fit in with your degree.
