DC cops play 'musical departments' in a mass transfer after Sheen incident

(AP) - Two District of Columbia police officers assigned to the unit that provided a high-speed escort to actor Charlie Sheen have been transferred. Sheen not only tweeted about the escort, he also included a photo of a car's speedometer registering about 80mph. An internal police document obtained today by the AP shows that Lt. Stuart Emerman and Capt. Robert Atcheson have been removed from that division, and sent instead to patrol services and school safety bureaus in different police districts. More»

(NEWSER) - Charlie Sheen stirred up another controversy while in Washington, DC, on Tuesday night: He somehow managed to snag a police escort so he could book it at 80mph to his show, for which he was running almost an hour late. The Washington Post looks into the matter, but no one will say exactly how such a thing was arranged or who paid for it. A police spokesperson says it's "under investigation." Griped one DC council member, "Citizens of the District don’t want to see their police force used to escort private citizens and that Charlie Sheen, of all people, is getting a personal escort." (NEWSER) - Weird news from the land of Charlie Sheen: The troubled actor has managed to irk a group of 9/11 truthers, which is now threatening to protest in front of his live shows. Members of the 9/11 Truth Movement, who believe 9/11 was a conspiracy, feel Sheen has betrayed them. Sheen was once very vocal about his belief in the truther movement (he said the World Trade Center collapse looked like a "controlled demolition"), but instead of "asking hard questions about what happened on 9/11 and the resulting wars," a member tells TMZ , Sheen has been "bragging about smoking crack and sleeping with hookers."
