Bush Hails 'Noble' Iraq War

Posted Nov 12, 07 3:25 AM CST in US

(Newser) – President Bush marked the fifth Veterans Day since the beginning of the war in Iraq at an emotional ceremony at an American Legion Post in Texas where four fallen servicemen were honored. Bush was expected to use the opportunity to scold Congress for not sending him a veterans spending bill, but instead hailed the conflict in Iraq as a noble cause.

"In their sorrow, these families—and families all across our nation—need to know that loved ones served a cause that is good and just and noble," Bush said. "Their sacrifice will not be in vain." The four Texas servicemen are among 3,860 members of the US military killed in Iraq since 2003
