Meet the Unluckiest Guy in America

You skip one office lottery pool...

(Newser) – Here's a tip: If you're going to join your office's lottery pool, best to be consistent. One man in New York decided to take a pass last week because he wasn't feeling lucky ... and that was the week seven of his co-workers won the $319 million Mega Millions jackpot. "They asked him twice. They said, 'Are you sure?'" says the owner of the deli where the group of state information-technology workers often used to have lunch. The man who passed would have taken home $16 million after taxes through the lump sum option, the New York Post reports. Click for a much happier lottery story.

I disagree. He's NOT he unluckiest. Sure, he still needs to go to work every day, but he still has a job (and as of right now, is less likely to be laid off from it now. In this world, that's a "Wunnerful Thing". Unluckiest would be if he'd been laid off a week ago, THEN all of his buddies from the old office won the MegaMillions.

Well it looks like he was right. Should he get some of the money out of the kindness of the others heart? I would think a lot of it would depend on the situation of whether they liked him and how long he had been playing. At best he shouldn't get a full share, but maybe each one could give a small amount. He was asked twice if he wanted to get in the pool and said NO so he has nobody to blame but himself and the others shouldn't feel bad about him not winning anything.
