(User Submitted) – Local authorities at the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office notified the US Coast Guard about a missing woman. Her vehicle was found along Hunnewell Beach and there were footprints indicating she may have gone into the ice-cold water.

Using infrared radar, the USCG helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod found the woman on a beach between the Morse and Sprague rivers. She was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME, where she was listed in stable condition.

The Maine Marine Patrol, the sherriff's offices of Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties and Wiscasset Police were also involved in the search, along with a USCG boat crew from South Portland.

"Search crews on land helped direct the Coast Guard helicopter to a remote tidal beach that could not easily be accessed by land, where the woman was found alive, but in need of immediate medical attention," said Lt. Nick Barrow, the command center supervisor for the Coast Guard Sector Northern New England.
