The rumors are true: The first authorized biography of Steve Jobs is on its way. iSteve: The Book of Jobs, by Walter Isaacson, is being written with Jobs' cooperation—unlike earlier books on the Apple CEO. Isaacson, an ex-exec at CNN and Time magazine and author of biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein, has been working on the book since 2009. Due to be published in early 2012, it will be based on interviews with Jobs and his family, colleagues, and competitors, the AP reports.

“This is the perfect match of subject and author, and it is certain to be a landmark book about one of the world's greatest innovators,” said a rep for Simon & Schuster. “Just as he did with Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, Walter Isaacson is telling a unique story of revolutionary genius."
