(Newser) – Republicans trying to woo conservative Iowans are likely to find Michele Bachmann a hard act to follow. The Minnesotan, speaking to a conservative group last night, slammed "liberal policies" on abortion, same-sex marriage, and health care reform, the Des Moines Register reports. She labeled Planned Parenthood the "LensCrafters of big abortion" and called judges who support gay marriage "black-robed masters." Judges "are not our masters," she said. "They are not our morality. They are not put there to make the decisions."

Bachmann said she was deeply disappointed that her fellow House Republicans had reached a budget deal with President Obama instead of seizing the opportunity to "defund the left." She slammed the Department of Education, "along with a few other agencies, by the way, that I think we can live without," reports Politico. She told reporters afterward that the other government agencies she would like to see abolished include the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce.

Is she trying to say that LensCrafters does sub-standard work for bargain basement prices? If so, I have to disagree....

yes, cause that's the smart thing to do, is de-fund all these agencies at the same time (being sarcastic!)... Just her suggestion of the department of commerce and department of energy would shed 43,880 jobs from the Commerce department and another 16,000 from the energy department, not to mention the 93,000 contract workers that are employed by the department of energy... that's 152,880 jobs! Look, I agree, we could shed some of their budget, gradually, but to just go ahead and shut them down 100% in one fell swoop is like playing russian roulette with the economy. We can't afford to just pink-slip 150,000+ people! And that's just TWO of their suggestions!

The White House must be vigilant in protecting the rights of women and girls to control their bodies! The country cannot go back to the bad old days of unsanitary back-alley clinics. Read my proposal on and leave your comment!!-596
