Ex-Marine Beats Wife In Front of Divorce Judge

A Florida man reacted to being told he would have to pay child support by savagely attacking his wife during a divorce hearing in a judge's chambers. Ex-Marine Paul Henry Gonzalez knocked his wife, also an ex-Marine, unconscious with the first punch and continued beating her. His wife's lawyer restrained him until deputies arrived. Gonzalez fought off the deputies until he was pinned to the judge's conference table and Tasered—twice.

The attack was "unexpected" and "surreal," the wife's lawyer tells the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "He was punching with a true vengeance. It was vicious." Gonzalez is being held on charges of felony battery, domestic violence, and resisting arrest. His wife was hospitalized with facial fractures and a broken nose. The couple, who have a 1-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son, married in 2006 and were at their final divorce hearing. (More divorce stories.)
