(Newser) – Rand Paul has only been on the job for a few months, but he wants everyone to know, for the record, that he's definitely running for reelection in five years ... assuming he doesn't become president or anything first. The Kentucky senator made the unusual move of filing a statement of candidacy to run for re-election just 11 weeks after taking office, the AP reports. But despite the early file, Paul has suggested he might have his eye on a presidential run, and Politico notes that no sooner had he filed this reelection paperwork than he jetted off to South Carolina, an early primary state.
