Judge Orders OJ to Stand Trial

(Newser) – Former NFL star OJ Simpson must stand trial on charges including armed robbery and kidnapping stemming from a September altercation inside a hotel room, a Las Vegas judge ruled today. The trial date was set for Nov. 28, the Los Angeles Times reports. Simpson could face life in prison if convicted on the kidnapping charges alone.

"This is what we expected," Simpson, 60, told the Times after the decision. "If I have any disappointment, it's that I wish a jury was here. As always, I rely on the jury system." Simpson and two co-defendants are alleged to have stormed a hotel room to recover memorabilia related to his football career. Other alleged accomplices pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
