Conservatives Up in Arms Over Glee Gay Episode

Gay bully is gay, cast sings ' Born This Way '

(Newser) – Conservatives are raising a stink about the latest episode of the hit TV series Glee concerning bullying of a gay student. The bully, who's gay himself, apologizes in last night's special 90-minute show with the help of a closeted lesbian student, then the whole school gets comfortable with who they are and belts out Lady Gaga's "Born This Way." And for a really happy (upcoming) ending, the now-liberated bully and his former victim will apparently be named prom king and queen (the extra that spilled those beans has reportedly been fired).

This is Glee creator Ryan Murphy's "latest depraved initiative to promote his gay agenda," conservative media critic Dan Gainor told ABC News. Gainor called Glee's fictional school "the gayest high school in the history of mankind. This is clearly Murphy's vision of what growing up should be, not most of America's," he added. No response yet from the Glee crew. Last month, former Saturday Night Live comedienne Victoria Jackson called a kiss between two gays on the program "sickening."

It really saddens me to read articles like this. How many kids do we have to lose in the name of intolerance? As a society we still have a lot to learn on accepting each other. Personally, I don’t see any gay agenda behind the Glee episode. I think that gays are part our society as any other community and they deserve respect and the right to live free of attacks. This issue goes beyond being gay; we need to teach our children to accept each other regardless of race, gender and sexual orientation. Bullying is a serious matter that has caused so much pain. Being a mother, I can’t even imagine what a mom has to go through when a desperate kid decides to take his/her own life. Not to mention the hell that a bullied kid has to go through. Instead of criticism we need action. We need to eradicate bullying from our society. This means that we need to raise a compassionate and sensible generation that values diversity and respects differences.

Never watched it. Hate musicals. Blech! I still have Lawrence Welk nightmares from when my aunt used to hog the tv.

Really? - after shows like Will and Grace - THIS upsets them? They really have wayyy too much time on their hands and watch too much TV - isn't there a book you fanatics are supposed to be obsessively reading?
