(Newser) – President Obama's long-form birth certificate has done bad things to Donald Trump's political popularity. In a Public Policy Polling survey, he dropped from first place (26%) to fifth place (8%) in the span of a month. What's more, 53% of GOP voters now hold a negative view of him, compared with 34% who like him.

In short, he "has had one of the quickest rises and falls in the history of Presidential politics," writes PPP. The new leaders: Mike Huckabee (19%), Mitt Romney (18%), Newt Gingrich (13%), and Sarah Palin (12%). Others mentioned in the survey: Ron Paul (8%), Michele Bachmann (7%), and Tim Pawlenty (5%).
