(Newser) – A Texas woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of her 6-year-old son, whose body was found on a road in rural Maine. Julianne McCrery, 42, was arrested after a state trooper spotted the pickup truck with Navy insignia embossed on the license plate that had been seen near where the boy's body was dumped, ABC reports. McCrery has an older son who serves in the Navy.

McCrery, self-published author of a book on dealing with insomnia, has an arrest record in Texas for crimes including prostitution and possession of a controlled substances, AP reports. Friends and relatives say they have no idea what she was doing in New England and they find it hard to believe that she would ever harm her little boy. Maine's chief medical examiner says the boy died from asphyxiation. Her lawyer says McCrery may have been planning on killing herself; click for more.
