The Texas woman accused of killing her 6-year-old son and leaving his body on a dirt road in Maine is suicidal, and has likely confessed to police, her lawyer said today. Attorney George Murphy also said that Julianne McCrery, 42, didn't tell him the reason she came to New England, but he concluded from other statements that's it's possible she came to the area to kill her son, 6-year-old Camden Hughes, and commit suicide. He also said police believe they have a confession.

"All she says is her son's in heaven and she wants to be with him," Murphy said. He added that McCrery told him, "It should be the death penalty. If it's the death penalty I could get to heaven." McCrery was taken to a local hospital last night at Murphy's request, but was soon released and returned to the state police lockup. Her lawyer added that he believes she is competent to face the charges against her. (More Julianne McCrery stories.)
