McCann Friend Says She Saw Maddy Abducted
Jane Tanner, a friend of the McCanns and member of the "Tapas Nine" who dined with them the night Maddy McCann disappeared, talks to the BBC about the man she thinks was Maddy's abductor.   (BBC)

A close friend of the McCann family says she saw a man carrying Madeleine McCann from the Portuguese resort where they were staying, the BBC reports. "I think it's important that people know what I saw because I believe Madeleine was abducted," said Jane Tanner, who agreed to an interview after being labeled "a liar and a fantasist."

Tanner, who has worked with police to produce a sketch, says she saw a man walking out of the resort with a child about 45 minutes before the McCanns alerted her to Maddy's absence. Although she thought nothing of it at the time, she says she is now convinced she witnessed Maddy's abduction. Investigators named the girl's parents official suspects in September.
