Eagles Enjoy Their Perch Near the Top

Posted Nov 17, 07 10:58 AM CST in Arts & Living

(Newser) – The Eagles' new CD has sat at or near the top of the Billboard charts since its debut earlier this month—not bad for a band that hasn't released an album since 1979. Don Henley discusses the Eagles' approach to the double-disc Long Road Out of Eden with CNN, including its unexpected and exclusive deal with Wal-Mart, which wooed the environmentally minded Henley with a green initiative.

"Everybody's been calling for a new paradigm in the record industry," Henley says of the Wal-Mart deal, which he sees as a "good fit" for the band. As for the album, which has a disc full of protest songs, "If people don't agree with us, they can hit the skip button." But true fans should relish every note: "This is probably the last Eagles album that we'll ever make. We're all pushing 60. Well, some of us are 60."
