Jeff Conaway’s family has been keeping a vigil at his bedside since he fell into a coma last week, but they have now decided to turn off the actor’s life support machine. Doctors told the family that the Grease and Taxi star has no brain function, a source tells Radar. “The feeding tube has already been removed,” and his ventilator was scheduled to be turned off yesterday. But in a later development, Radar reports that Conaway’s ex-girlfriend is fighting the family’s decision.

Vikki Lizzi, an on-and-off girlfriend of Conaway’s for years, claims she has power of attorney for the actor and is also a guarantor of his living trust. The hospital told her attorney they would “hold off” on removing life support “until they re-read the trust,” a source says. Conaway’s family secured, then later dropped, a restraining order against Lizzi on May 19. Click to read more about the family’s tough decision. (More Jeff Conaway stories.)
