Suffice it to say Quebec legislator Amir Khadir is not happy about the upcoming royal visit. Khadir, leader of a small left-wing party, said yesterday that taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for Prince William’s planned summer visit with his new wife, the Duchess of Cambridge. Khadir, a self-described separatist, compared the British royal family to "parasites" in a tabloid interview, the AP reports, and the Quebec government has since demanded an apology.

Khadir isn’t backing down from his original remarks: "If this is a tourist attraction I would at least like it if the principals involved, the prince and the princess, knew it—knew that we're bringing them here a little bit like we do with circus tours," he said yesterday.
