Apple Peeved Over Steve Jobs Obituary

Apple boss not dead, will present today at WWDC

(Newser) – Steve Jobs is not dead—in fact, he’ll be presenting for Apple at the Worldwide Developers Conference today. But the AP has been updating his obituary just in case, and Apple apparently isn’t happy about it, sources tell the New York Post's Page Six. Over the past two weeks, the AP has placed calls to a variety of entertainment executives looking for quotes for the obituary. “Apple found out about it and asked everyone involved not to give any,” the source said.

Many of the people the AP approached had turned them down anyway. “I understand they have a job to do,” said one, “but it seemed a little ill-timed and macabre.” AP wouldn't comment. Jobs has been on medical leave for a while now, but he'll appear at the WWDC today, where he's expected to unveil some iOS updates and Apple's new iCloud service.

Uh, this is not an uncommon practice in the world of journalism. Many obituaries are pre-written a long time in advance.
