Other than 23 felony charges, just a regular day for ex-ballplayer

(Newser) – During his baseball career, Lenny Dykstra was known for his penchant for getting dirty, and now he's really having trouble staying clean. The former Mets and Phillies player was charged today with nearly two dozen felony counts of fraud, grand theft, and drug possession, reports the Los Angeles Times. The former slugger could face up to 12 years in prison.

The charges claim that in January, Dykstra, his accountant, and a friend tried to lease expensive cars by claiming credit through a fake company. Cops say they then found cocaine, ecstasy, and a synthetic human growth hormone at Dykstra's home when they arrested him in April. In a separate case, Dykstra was also indicted last month on federal bankruptcy charges for allegedly removing, destroying and selling property that was part of a bankruptcy estate. He'll probably get in more trouble for the HGH ecstasy and coke they found in his house than the actual crime he commited.
