It's game over for three alleged Spanish hackers. Police in Spain arrested three men suspected in the online attacks against Sony, including one that shut down the PlayStation Network for a month. The men—all in their early 30s—are alleged leaders of a local branch of the international hacker syndicate Anonymous, which compromised personal data of tens of millions of PlayStation users in April, reports the New York Times.
One of the "hacktivists" was detained sometime after May 18 for possessing the computer server from which the online gaming store was attacked. The same server was used in hacks against government sites in Spain, Egypt, Libya, New Zealand, and other countries. The other two men were arrested "recently," according to police. Sony estimates the attack will cost the company at least $173 million in IT spending, legal fees, lower sales, and discounts to bring back customers.
