(NEWSER) - Despite the fact that Osama bin Laden's death means a popularity boost for the man they'd be up against, potential Republican presidential candidates are of course reacting positively to the news. Politico offers a roundup:

• Sarah Palin: "Americans tonight are united in celebration and gratitude. God bless all the brave men and women in our military and our intelligence services who contributed to carrying out the successful mission to bring bin Laden to justice."
• Donald Trump: "I want to personally congratulate President Obama and the men and women of the Armed Forces for a job well done. ... I am so proud to see Americans standing shoulder to shoulder, waving the American flag in celebration of this great victory."

She's tired of the lies, and might be too unconventional to run

(NEWSER) - Sarah Palin conceded she might be too "unconventional" a presidential candidate for American voters. It's a consideration that's holding up her decision whether or not to run—along with the war chest she'll need for the race, she tells the BBC . But the "unconventional" hesitation was a bit of a self-administered pat on the back: "The idea of whether the electorate is ready for someone a bit unconventional, who is willing to tell it as she sees it, not be beholden to special interests or such obsessive partisanship as to let it get in the way of doing what's right," she mused about herself without finishing the sentence. Just 43% believe Obama deserves second term

(NEWSER) - Sarah Palin can win the Republican nomination for 2012—but she can't win the presidency, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll . The nationwide poll found that Palin—who recently told Barbara Walters she could defeat President Obama —would narrowly win a primary involving the current most-likely GOP front-runners, but would be defeated by President Obama 48% to 40% in a general election, despite the fact that only 43% of voters believe Obama deserves a second term.
